Assistant Professor: Race and Ethnicity
The Department of Sociology at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track (assistant professor) position in the area of Sociology of Race and Ethnicity with a focus on critical race theory and Latinx and/or Black communities, to begin Fall 2022. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, or a related field by the time of appointment. We seek candidates with a strong record in teaching effectiveness and scholarly achievement/productivity (relative to career stage), whose work is theoretically rich and anchored in intersectional perspectives. We prefer candidates who show a commitment to teaching a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and experience working with underrepresented students. We further seek a scholar with evidence of commitment to community-based, anti-racist work.

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
